  Welborn Animal Hospital was founded in 1957 at 4946 Leavenworth Road by Dr. J. J. (Joe) Swanson. Dr. Swanson graduated from De La Salle High School before going on to Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, where he received his D.V.M. degree in 1954.

Dr. C. L. Bock joined the staff in 1975. Dr. Bock graduated from Chase County High School in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. He received his D.V.M. degree from KSU in 1974 and worked for a year in Chillicothe, Missouri, before moving to Kansas City, KS to practice at Welborn.

Dr. Jim Swanson received his D.V.M. degree from KSU in 1983. Drs. J. R. (Jim) and


J. E. (John) Swanson worked at the animal hospital during their school years in Kansas City, Kansas, and while attending KSU. Both doctors are graduates of Washington High School. Dr. John Swanson received his D.V.M. degree from KSU in 1984.

 

In 1986, Welborn Pet Hospital West was established at 1930 North 77th Street. In June, 1996, all veterinary operations were moved to the present location at 7860 Washington Avenue.
